Winchester to Deliver 200 Million 40-Cal. Rounds to Homeland Security

Picked up from another forum:

Quote:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Winchester Ammunition was recently awarded a contract by the Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security to supply a maximum of 200 million, 40 cal. rounds over the next five years.

The load selected for this contract is a 135-grain, hollow point designed for the office of Field Operations of Customs and Border Protection. It will fall under the Winchester Ranger line.

That's an old article. It was posted back in August. But still...

Can't say as I blame Winchester for taking the contract. Hard to turn down that kind of filthy lucre. I wonder how badly other police dept's across the country will be hurting for .40 since that seems to be the common LE round nowadays? A year ago a Wallyworld sporting goods clerk told me the local police came in and bought up every box of .40 whenever it came in.

Will that help or hurt other .40 owners?

I have a friend who works for the FBI. He said that all of the new issue MP-5s are .40 S&W.

HP's aren't practice ammo. I wonder who they intend to shoot?

How many rounds is that per Homeland Security employee who's authorized to carry a weapon? Maybe it's really not that much per person on an annual basis. I can see that the feds just want to cover their butts since the rest of the country is scared crapless and just wants to get ammo while it's still available.

200 million rounds over five years???

LOL!!!! They will be out of ammo LONG before they get their SECOND delivery. Typical of fed.gov think. Kinda like those 100 guys who attacked the Branch Dividians. THEY RAN OUT OF AMMO. Take a hint. 200 BILLION rounds won't be enough to protect their masters.

US CITIZENS have bought WAY MORE than that.

GOT AMMO????
